We go through so much of life with this idea of who and what God is. Yet, even the brightest and the best can't wrap their brains around the greatness and vastness of God. We throw ideas about Him around as though He is actually definable. Crazy thing is...this great God known as Jehovah is beyond our wildest imaginations.
This one thing I do and that is to diligently search out this great God. He said that if we will search for Him with all of hearts, He will be found. Imagine that...God playing a game of hide-n-seek. The amazing thing is that He sincerely wants to be found. He just desires that somebody searches for Him with all their hearts.
If I put as much energy in searching for God as I do some of the other things in life maybe a lot of things would be quite different. And what do I mean by searching for an unsearchable, unexplainable, indefinable God? Hmmm...that's a good one, because His ways are higher than ours and His thoughts are higher than ours. The best thing I can think of is digesting everything I can by reading the Bible, reading books, listening to sermons, reading sermons...the list can go on and on.
If you're interested in this quest, here are a few of the books that I have read that I believe are essential in knowing God better: Knowing God by JI Packer, Desiring God by John Piper, Knowledge of the Holy by AW Tozer, The Holiness of God by RC Sproul...Oh there's more; believe me. But let's just start somewhere.
I guess that is what I am trying to say, "JUST START". Let me add something to that, "NEVER QUIT!"
