Ten Sixteen Recovery Network has a proud history of providing services to people impacted by substance use disorders. A private, non-profit agency, Ten Sixteen started in Midland in 1979. The inspiration for the name came from the sheriff. At the time, law enforcement used "ten codes" over the radio. A "10-16" meant there was an open door at the scene. This new program had that same number as their street address. Now, as then, whatever the need, Ten Sixteen has an open door to anyone who has been touched by drugs or alcohol.
Initially started as a halfway house, the program became a treatment facility in the late 1980's. As a way to impact more lived, under the Board leadership of Howard Swift, the agency opened its first counseling office in 1994 and added prevention services in 1998. The agency then expanded to Mt. Pleasant with a counseling office in 2001 and a 6-bed social detox facility in 2006. In response to new community needs, offices were opened in Gladwin, Big Rapids, and Clare in 2007.

At Hope Network, the people we serve may share a setback, a condition, a diagnosis, or need. However, each is unique. Each is on a personal journey. We meet them on that journey.
