Hidden Treasures, a Lansing-based thrift store, recently received a generous gift from an anonymous donor, and, as a result, is blessing more than 100 area churches with hundreds of $25 gift certificates to distribute to their neediest congregants. Store director Steve Shauver explains, "In this tough economy we understand that it is difficult to make ends meet. With back to school upon us clothes may not be in the family budget this year. But a $25 gift certificate goes a long way at Hidden Treasures."
The store, which opened in 2006 to support teacher salaries at Lansing Christian School, has a well-stocked inventory of name-brand clothing in excellent condition at very affordable prices. The 113 churches receiving the vouchers all have students at Lansing Christian School, an interdenominational P-12 school founded in 1950.
Shauver adds, "Were a relatively new member of the Lansing business community, and weve been blessed not only with this anonymous gift but with enough inventory that we are able to match this gift and double its impact. At Hidden Treasures we want everyone to know how much we appreciate the greater Lansing community. Our neighbors generously donate our inventory and tens of thousands of customers have shopped here each year. By working together, we will get through these trying times."
