A few historical notes about Coyne Oil Corporation
Coyne Oil Corporation was started on March 15, 1976. The Coyne family established the Jobbership after Amoco Oil Company changed its way of doing business, converting Commission Agent Operations to Jobberships. The Amoco Commissioned Agents in the Coyne family had included Lorne Coyne (1930-1954) and Dan Coyne (1954-1976).
In 1978, Dave and Mark Coyne constructed a warehouse (52 x 116) to be rented by Coyne Oil Corporation. The Coyne brothers purchased one acre of land for this construction. In 1979, Coyne Oil Corporation purchased a tractor, tank trailer and van trailer to allow them to develop light oil and heavy oil business.
In 1986, Amoco decided to change the heavy oil operations. In doing so, Amoco converted 1700 Jobbers from purchasing heavy oils directly from Amoco to 65 lubricant distributors designated to serve all of the other jobbers. Coyne Oil Corporation became one of the Amoco Lubricant distributors. Coyne Oil Corporation served the heavy oil needs of 32 Amoco jobbers. Later in 1986, Coyne Oil Corporation purchased equipment that allowed them to serve its Light Oil and Heavy Oil jobbers. This move greatly increased the wholesale business for the corporation.
In the Spring of 1989, Dave and Mark started construction of a 42,000 square foot warehouse and office facility to more efficiently serve other jobbers and increase business opportunities. The warehouse has the capability to store products in 45 - 5,000 gallon bulk oil tanks and three blending tanks. The warehouse has eight truck storage and service bays.
Also in 1989, Coyne Oil Corporation purchased the necessary equipment and storage facilities to expand into the propane business. In 2005, that propane business was expanded to the Cadillac area.
In September of 1990, Coyne Oil Corporation completed construction of an unattended Commercial Fueling Site consisting of seven fueling spots and five different products. The site was designed to allow for a future convenience store to share the tanks.
The Pickard Street Citgo convenience store, with 8 fueling locations and a car wash, was added in 1995. This was an opportunity for a retail outlet for our fuel and also included pizzas, subs, and other convenience store items.
