the health needs of your pet family member. Our doctors and staff regularly attend continuing education
seminars to ensure that your pet receives the best care possible. We offer radiology, laboratory, and
ultrasound diagnostics as well as preventive medicine, behavior consultations, puppy classes and dog
training, pet boarding services, bird and exotic pet medicine, and soft tissue surgery.

Avian, Reptile, Small Mammal MedicineThe doctors and staff at Milwood Animal Clinic have a special interest in avian, reptile, and small mammal
species and keep current on the latest medical updates. This means your special pet will receive state of the
art medical care at Milwood Animal Clinic. From vaccinations to husbandry and nutrition guidance to critical
care, we are a full service avian/exotic animal clinic. Reptile examinations include a quantitative assessment
of your UV bulb's ultraviolet output utilizing Solartech's Solarmeter UVB Meter. Rabbit and Guinea Pig
examinations include a visual molar examination to assess proper chewing function. We recommend
wellness testing for our avian patients annually. This includes bloodwork, choanal and cloacal gram stain
assessment, and radiographs as well as infectious disease screening for new birds. Fecal Parasite
Screening is extremely important in newly acquired exotic pet species; please bring a fresh dropping sample
from your pet with you to your appointment.
Behavioral Services:Our doctors and assistants provide consultation and training advice on a one-on-one basis for new puppy
owners during our well-puppy visits. Information provided includes house-training, basic commands, &
proper use of the Gentle Leader ® training collar. Puppy Classes and Family Dog Training are provided on a
regular basis by our resident dog trainer, Kari Stasienko. Dr. Karen Updike and Kari Stasienko are trained to
help with behavioral problems such as separation anxiety, feline inappropriate elimination, aggression, and

Dog and Cat GroomingRobin Baker joined our team in June of 2007. She has over 30 years of dog and cat grooming experience.
Robin has a rare gift with kitty grooming and her canine expertise is also well established. Her great patience
and gentleness is what keeps her clients coming back for more! Her motto is “Always do what’s best for the
pet.” As part of all of Robin’s Pet Grooming services, she provides a bath, clipping to your specifications,
thorough brush-out, nail trim, anal gland expression, ear cleaning and hair removal (if needed), and
assessment of teeth and skin condition.
Boarding ServicesWe provide boarding accommodations for birds, exotic pets, cats, and special-
needs dogs at Milwood Animal Clinic. We have specially designed our avian
boarding rooms to enhance your pet’s visit here while providing a safe
environment. Each room has separate air handling units and the rooms are
separated by glass walls to allow the birds to visualize each other and interact
without actually being able to touch one another.
