Why We Began
Great Lakes Eye Care (originally called Great Lakes Eye Clinic) was established in 1987 to provide for the diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions and diseases in people, as well as normal preventive eye care for the community of Southwest Michigan.

Optical ShopEach day we hear patients ask, "Why should I get my glasses at Great Lakes Eye Care?" Patients often mention that they would like to buy them here, but they make the assumption that the cost would be considerably more expensive.

Lucas "Chip" Platt, D.O.
Dr. Platt is stepping in to fill the shoes of Dr. Pletcher, who will be away for the next year in Ecuador. Dr. Platt will be focusing on general ophthalmology and ophthalmic plastic surgery. He is currently seeing patients in Niles and St. Joseph. He and his wife Cari have four children.
James "Wesley" Heroman, M.D.
Dr. Heroman is a specialist in diseases and surgery of the retina. He will be working out of our NIles office with limited St. Joseph hours as well. He complements our staff by being able to treat patients who have had to travel to South Bend, Grand Rapids, or Ann Arbor to receive specilaized retinal treatments. Dr. Heroman and his wife Krista have two children.

On October 9, 2007, Dr. Seward and his wife, Jannike, left to minister for a four-year missions term in Zambia.
