Recommendations for good modular home builders?

We’d like to put a little recreational home on some Mountain acreage and are tossing around either a log cabin kit or possible a modular.. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with any of the builders? Thank you!
I saw what looked like a good one that sells them Nationally on an info commercial last night, curious to see if anyone else used same…

What’s the difference between retail and system builders copy?

If I buy system builders copy of windows vista to put on a comp that i’m selling to somebody..what is the difference between this and the retail version? Can i use the retail verson on more than one computer? Or can i uset hte system builders copy for multiple? Is it illegal to use the retail on computers you are going to sell?

We just purchased a brand new house. Should the builders provide things such as a mail box?

Just wondering what exactly their obligations are and what they need to provide for us…We were just informed by the post office that the mail box next to the door is inadequate, and we need one by the curb. Is it the builders obligation to have this put in for us?

How can I find out which home builders make QUALITY homes and which to stay away from?

I’m looking to buy a new home in Southern California — Palm Desert/La Quinta or San Diego. There are several builders competing for my business. How can I find out about their reputations?

How much profit do home builders make off of sold homes?

I am looking into starting my own home building business but am trying to work with some numbers, specifically the average profit that self employed home builders can expect to make.
For example, if you sell a home for $400,000 how much was spent on the actual construction of the home and thus how much profit does the builder accrue?
Does anybody have any insight on this topic?

I have some acreage where I want to build a custom home, approx 7 to 10,000 sq ft. If I choose a decent, reputed builder for the job, how much do you think it would cost to build such a home since I already own the land?
Also, does it matter where the house is being built? The land is in an expensive area, so i’m concerned that these builders might charge more due to that fact.
Percs (permits etc) and financing have already been obtained.
