HOLIDAY TIDBITS FROM THE DETROIT RIVERFRONT CONSERVANCY
Take a walk, run or bike ride on Detroit's Riverfront and Dequindre Cut!

Over-indulgence during the holiday season starts with Halloween and ends with New Years. Pledge your New Years resolution now by committing to 30 minutes of exercise daily along the Detroit Riverfront and see for yourself how easy it is to eat smart during the holidays. The Detroit RiverWalk and Dequindre Cut Greenway are free all year round and have clearly marked mile/kilometer markers to help you keep track. To help get you started, we've attached a map of the Riverfront outlining a few suggested routes.

PORT AUTHORITY CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
In order to begin construction of the new wharf at the Port Authority building, a portion of the Riverwalk, located west of the Renaissance Center will be fenced off beginning Thursday, August 19th. This section of the walkway will be closed to foot traffic for approximately two months.
During this time, a temporary path around the construction has been provided. In addition, way-finding signage is in place to guide you along the highlighted route.

The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, a non-profit organization, was founded in 2003 with the mission of bringing public access to Detroit's Riverfront. Today, three miles of the east Riverfront is complete and open to the public. The overarching goal remains in place: To develop a total of 5 ½ miles of Rverfront, from the Ambassador Bridge to Gabriel Richard Park, just east of the bridge to Belle Isle connected by RiverWalk, plazas, pavilions, parks, harbors and green spaces. There are endless exciting possibilities ensuring use and enjoyment of the Riverfront for generations to come.
The Conservancy is responsible for the construction, improvement, operation, maintenance, security, programming and expansion of the Detroit RiverWalk and associated green spaces.
Our environmental practices are proactive and visible in the community. As the beautification flourishes, and the walkable Riverfront grows, the significance of this distinctly urban treasure becomes more apparent to the people of the city, of the region, and of the world.
After all, where else can you watch the sun set over two countries?

There are many ways you can support the Conservancy's work and be a part of the historic development of the Riverfront.
Share your commitment to revitalizing the Detroit Riverfront by becoming a member of the Friends of the Conservancy and renewing your contribution on an annual basis: consider a Family Membership at $75, become a Sustainer at $250, or join the RiverWalk Leadership Society with a gift of $1,000 or more.
Honor a loved one or celebrate a special event with an engraved brick at Rivard Plaza for $100 or $500. Or participate in our Commemorative Bench Program for $5,000 and $10,000, depending on location.

There are also a number of ways to leave a Legacy Gift to the Conservancy through a will or trust, a retirement plan, life insurance or an annuity, or a Life Income Gift.
By making an investment in the Conservancy, you will demonstrate your belief in the future of our wonderful Detroit Riverfront. Please do your part to keep our beautiful Riverfront clean, safe and accessible.
