The Opera House, built in 1881, is a three-story historic icon in downtown Howell. It was purchased by the Livingston Arts Council (LAC) in 2000 with the goal to create a quality arts and cultural center to serve Livingston County and the surrounding area.
The first floor was renovated in 2007 and is used today by the organization and community for a variety of public and private activities. The original theatre resides on the upper floors and has not been restored. Today the theatre is available only for tours, with the restoration planned for the years ahead.
