Professional commercial, business, and advertising photographer Andy Greenwell specializes in high-quality digital photography on location and in his studio in metro Detroit, MI (Farmington Hills, Michigan). Andy says, I was once described as specializing in diversity. If the shoe fits I feel so blessed for my background. You would be hard pressed to find anything I havent photographed. I actually started out as a cinematographer / cameraman, shooting film and video for CBS Television in Champaign, IL. I was a news cameraman for a while, but my interest has always been in creative photography and lighting. We shot TV commercials, training films, and University of Illinois sports on video and 16 mm film as well as still photography. The station acquired the syndicated TV show PM Magazine after I had been at WCIA a couple of years. I did hundreds of exciting features in central Illinois then moved to Detroit where I did the same for CBS TV2 Detroit. We did feature stories on everything that was fun, exciting, or interesting! Ive flown in fighter jets, hot air balloons, ridden atop the Budweiser Clydesdales, filmed a birth, brain surgery, been in the salt mines and sewer systems of Detroit, and photographed hundreds of top celebrities and athletes. I could go on and on. I loved every lighting challenge and took pride in taking my camera places the viewer could never go without my lens! I was lucky to work with some great producers. While I was in broadcast television, I received 6 Emmy nominations and was awarded and Outstanding Achievement Award for Cinematic Lighting..
I opened my still photography studio in Farmington Hills, MI in 1987. Whether its studio photography or location photography, were equipped to handle all types of advertising photography. As a business photographer in Detroit, Michigan, of course I photograph cars. Automotive photography is very challenging! One assignment may take me to the GM Proving Grounds for running footage, the next may be studio photography of the latest Ford F150 truck, then executive portrait photography for Chrysler the next. I have taken photos for dozens of Fortune 500 companies! As a fashion photographer in Michigan, I have worked with some great clothing designers capturing their hot designs for catalogs, brochures, and websites. I also do model photography. From head shots to portfolios to model comp cards I know what the talent agencies are looking for!
I also love teaching photography workshops at my studio in Farmington Hills. I try to cover all the bases from digital photography camera classes for beginners to advanced lighting seminars for product photography. There is something for everyone! I also specialize in Photoshop retouching and even have a page of before and after photos.
