The purpose of this congregation shall be to extend the kingdom of God by the preaching and teaching of the Word of God and by the administration of the Sacraments according to the doctrinal standard of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, and to foster Christian fellowship and love.

Check our education page for the classes/dates/times for the 2010/2011 school year. We have classes for children and adults. PLUS! We have a pre-school and kindergarten.
Don't forget Vacation Bible School the first week of every August.

We were pleased to have five representatives of our congregation present at the first meeting of the United Lutheran Mission Association (aka ULMA) in 2005. This is an exciting new venture by our congregation and Pilgrim Lutheran Church of Decatur, Illinois. Basically, it's a mission association dedicated to starting Lutheran congregations in the tradition of "Old Missouri". As of November, 2008, two missions are already underway with more in the works. Click on this link to the United Lutheran Mission Association website for more information.

Check out On Cherubim Wings, from our former Director of Music.
If you missed Dr. Chun's first album, not to worry. You can still get The Angels Dance.

Our congregation has been serving the Lord since our founding in 1921. The Lutheran Reformation began in 1517 with the posting of Dr. Martin Luther's Ninety-Five Theses on the church door in Wittenberg. Our faith is founded on the Holy Scriptures and the three creeds of the ancient church.

We are a Christian Church whose teachings are based in the Old & New Testaments of the Holy Bible. The exposition of our understanding of the Holy Scriptures can be found in the Book of Concord (1580), also known as the Lutheran Confessions. One of the Confessions is Luther's Small Catechism. It is a very straightforward exposition on Christian teaching, written for parents to use in teaching their children. It is also highly recommended for adults.
Our congregation voted to leave the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and become an independent Lutheran congregation on September 13, 2004. This action was taken due to changes in the procedural methods (polity) of the Synod in its dealing with member congregations as specified in their Church Constitutions. We did not leave due to Synod's "official" doctrinal positions. More information may be found on our What We Believe page.
In 1932, the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod issued a Brief Statement to convey in a convenient form the beliefs of the Church. (This link includes numerous statements on doctrine besides the Brief Statement.) Redeemer is in full agreement with the Brief Statement.
If you are curious, check out the LCMS Frequently Asked Questions page. This page is updated regularly with questions and answers that are of concern today. You can also find similar information from the WELS Topical Q&A as well as the Evangelical Lutheran Synod's LearnAboutJesus.com website. If there is a question you have which is not located on these sites, feel free to ask our Pastor.
