Traditional Martial Arts This program is for all ages: Men, Women and Children 5 Years & Older
There also is a special "Little Kickers" class for 3 & 4 year olds.
The martial art that is taught at SIDEKICKS Martial Arts Studio, Inc. is Moo Sool Do. Literally translated, Moo Sool Do means the way of the martial arts. It is based upon the Korean martial arts Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do and Hap Ki Do. In the program, students are taught blocking, striking and kicking techniques as basic skills. Forms practice enhances speed, power, balance, and precision. Sparring takes the student to a new level of endurance and timing. Sparring involves contact with another person and protective equipment is worn to minimize injuries.
Once a student has learned the basic skills, he or she can progress into falling techniques, take-downs, and weapons. Hap Ki Do means the way of coordinating energy, either within yourself or combining your energy with that of an attacker. Circular moves are used to evade a forceful linear attack.
In summary, Moo Sool Do is about handling self-defense situations at differing distances. Hard and soft style martial art techniques are used offensively and defensively. Ultimately, students learn what their strengths and weaknesses are and how to master their art.
This is a less formal class (no bowing, belts or Korean terminology). The emphasis is on physical fitness while learning the footwork, punches, blocks and kicks of kickboxing. This is great for cardiovascular fitness and overall tone and flexibility. Resistance training is incorporated to improve strength. This program is for anyone 13 years or older who wants the benefits of a martial art workout, like calorie burning and stress management. Takes Kickboxing to a whole new level.
Mixed Martial Arts: Newly added, this program is for those individuals who want to learn the fastest growing sport in the world. Grappling, KickBoxing and other skills are taught as an awesome method of fighting and physical conditioning.
