On Thursday, October 14th MSCA attended one of the Speaker Series offered at Macomb Center featuring Twyla Tharp. Ms Tharp held a lecture from 7:00-8:00 p.m. 30 dancers and parents were in attendance for this unique opportunity to hear a legendary dancer/choreographer speak. In addition, our advanced dancers were invited to meet with Twyla Tharp, in person, for an informal question and answer session. The evening was an enlightening and memorable occasion for MSCA and its dancers.

This year we welcome all our teachers and two new members to our staff. Our new tap teacher is Denise Caston. She will teach all Thursday tap classes. Welcome to our MSCA family, Ms. Denise. In the New Baltimore office you will now be greeted by Jenna McQuiston. Welcome, Jenna.
We will start out on Monday with your 1st fundraiser. Fundraiser #1 is the sale of local area discount cards. Please look for the flyer going home this week. Start padding your account with $2.50 for each card you sell/purchase. You may turn in your money for cards at any time as we have Richmond, Marine City/Algonac and Anchor Bay cards here in the office. Other areas may be ordered and received in a day or two. Don’t forget, fundraiser participation helps keep MSCA costs down, as well as giving you cash for a variety of dance extras.
We are looking forward to another year of fun, friends and dance!

On Sunday, February 07, 2010, Joe won the title of Junior Mr. Dance of Michigan in the Dance Masters of Michigan solo title competition. As a matter of note, this was Joes 1st solo performance ever!! The audience loved him and Joe looked like he was born to be on stage. Additionally, he received the high score award for his interview.
Congratulations Joey! You did us proud!

Since winning the title of Junior Mr. Dance of Michigan, Joe has passed his Cecchetti Grade 1 exam. In July, Joe traveled to San Antonio, Texas to compete in the Dance Masters of America competition. This intensive competition included convention classes, interviews with the judges, auditions and a group performance to open the show. Joe had a great time, made many new friends and excelled in his classes. He also won the interview for the Junior Mr. America competition. Main Stage Center for the Arts is very proud of this excellent young man.

The new schedule for Fall is going home this week with your dancer—be sure to watch for it!

We have another Queen! Miss Kaely O’Connor was crowned Miss Capac and has been fulfilling her duties since last September. Kaely is a Junior, for a couple more days anyway, and a long time soloist member of our Main Attraction competition group.

CONGRATULATIONS to our own Erin Healy who was crowned Miss Chesterfield for 2010. Miss Healy is a senior this year and an accomplished member our Main Attraction competition group.
